The team of the Anecoop Sustainability Observatorytogether with the area of Kiwa Spain R&D&I and the participating cooperativesThe first meeting was held to evaluate, share and analyze the progress of the pilot project in its first year. During this meeting, the results obtained were presented and a roadmap for the next steps was drawn up.
The Observatory has a clear objective: measure, evaluate y convert data into actionable knowledgeAs Anecoop's Director of Quality and Sustainability, Mari Carmen Morales, pointed out: "Data, without an action plan, are irrelevant. With this project, what we want is to generate enough knowledge to transfer this data to concrete and coordinated actions throughout our production base".
This will enable their cooperatives and member companies to make strategic decisions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS).
So far, data demonstrating the positive impact of agri-food cooperatives on the SDGs has been collected based on the experience of the cooperatives participating in the pilot project, all of which are committed to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
Sustainability is increasingly integrated into the sector, but the response must be accelerated. The agri-food sector has a key role to play in this transition to a more sustainable model and we need to take advantage of it.
Anecoop's Sustainability Observatory aims to be the catalyst for change in the agri-food sector towards a more sustainable model thanks to innovation, training and excellence. "We are not only going to see, we are going to listen, we are going to learn, to transfer knowledge and, therefore, to transcend," said Rosa Valenzuela, director of the R&D&I area of Kiwa Spain.
Criteria will be applied ASG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), through data science and in alignment with the European Green Dealthe UN Global CompactThe National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the National Green Algorithms Program.
"Training is the engine of progress, that is why, the Anecoop Sustainability Campus is responsible for training professionals in the agri-food sector in best practices to promote sustainable development".
"The Observatory is an example of the proactivity of cooperatives to address the challenges posed by sustainability, which is currently under the focus of institutions around the world and a large part of society," emphasized Juan Cardona, CEO of Kiwa Spain.
