On May 23, 2025, we received at the UAL-Anecoop Experimental Farm Foundation the visit of representatives from COAGRISAN (San Nicolás Agricultural Cooperative, Canary Islands) y COPROHNIJAR (Cooperative of Fruit and Vegetable Producers of Níjar).

The main purpose of the meeting was to learn more about the experimental trials with papaya and pitahaya which are currently being developed in our facilities. These trials are part of the research line focused on the diversification of subtropical crops adapted to the southeastern peninsular, with special attention to productive viability, fruit quality and efficiency of resource use in semi-arid climate conditions.

During the conference, technical knowledge was exchanged and the possibilities of transferring results to the cooperative sector were analyzed, highlighting the potential of these crops as a profitable alternative for farmers on the Mediterranean and island coasts.

This type of visit reinforces our commitment to cooperation between territories and the generation of applied knowledge at the service of the agricultural sector.
